Your students will really enjoy learning more about some famous black history heroes with this fun “Guess It” game which works like “Guess Who”. This is very versatile and so is appropriate for a wide range of ages, abilities and topics.

For younger students, it can be used as a simple characteristics game, great for building vocabulary whilst familiarizing themselves with some of the most famous heroes of black history.

Older students can challenge their knowledge of these heroes by identifying their personal characteristics and achievements.

This resource would be an excellent accompaniment to the Research Activities and discussion cards resource, as students can research about each of these people first before reinforcing their learning with this fun game!

Included in this resource are a ‘base’ mat and cards to cut and stick onto them. I have included a few different sets with a variety of colour options as well as a plain white one and a pure black and white version as well, great for photocopying or for giving to students to colour in and take home to play with family.

There are a set of short biography cards which can be used as a study tool or help prompts whilst playing the game as well.

Also included are teacher’s notes on how to set up and play the game as well as a student set of the rules so that they can refer to it while playing to aid independence.

Resource includes:
• Martin Luther King Jr.
• Frederick Douglass
• Harriet Tubman
• Mary Seacole
• George Washington Carver
• Booker T. Washington
• Rosa Parks
• Malcolm X
• William H. Hastie
• Maya Angelou
• Thurgood Marshall
• Nelson Mandela
• James Meredith
• Ruby Bridges
• Elijah McCoy
• Elizabeth “Bessie” Coleman
• Marcus Garvey
• Sarah E. Goode
